What are the Best Football Appetizers for a Charcuterie?

If you’re like me, then you love football season. Not just because of the games, but because of the food! There’s nothing better than snacking on your favorite appetizers while watching your favorite team play.

Here are some great snacks that work well on a game day charcuterie board.

Pizza – The classic game day snack is pizza, so get creative with your favorite pie by slicing into bite size pieces. I served the whole pizza on a separate board to complete my game day snack table.

Dips – I love a good dip when watching football! I have a lot of dip recipes I could have chosen for this board, but my favorite is Million Dollar Dip! It shapes nicely into a football. (See directions below for how to make a football dip.)

Cheese – An easy snack to grab from a game day board is definitely cheese. My go-to cheese is always cheddar or a log of goat cheese.

Chips & Crackers – You can never have enough crunchy snacks! Stock up on your favorite salty snacks to go along with your cheese and dips.

Fruits & Vegetables – Any kind of fruits and veggies will work great on a snack board. A fun idea is to style by color. Choose all green vegetables for a football field turf look. Cut your vegetables into shapes for a little extra cuteness.

Meats – We all know a charcuterie usually includes cut meats. Serve any of your favorites. Sliders are always fun for game day!

Cookies & Candy – Don’t forget to add a few sweet treats to your charcuterie. Check out my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies and easy dessert recipes for easy ideas.

I think I nailed it. It’s not the first time I’ve made a football out of something, but this one was my favorite so far.

I made this football dip out of this Million Dollar Dip recipe. It’s a great cheesy dip you can serve cold that will hold the football shape.

Step 1 – Make the dip (get recipe here) and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.

Step 2 – Shape dip into a football.

Step 3 – Cover dip in bacon crumbles. This takes about 6 slices of bacon. Refrigerate dip until ready to serve.

Step 4 – Before you serve the dip, place a half cup of mayonnaise into a piping bag and make lines for the laces of the football. If you do this step too early, the mayonnaise will lose its white color.

  • 2 cups Million Dollar Dip

  • Place your football dip, vegetables, chips and dips onto a large charcuterie board.

  • Slice a lime in half, use a knife to cut football laces onto each side and place around the board for garnish.
