Looking back at Kentucky Oaks 150

DAY AND WHAT SHE FOUND WITH THE FANS. SURE. WE HAD SOME ON AND OFF SHOWERS THROUGHOUT THE DAY, BUT RACING FANS I TALKED TO SAY THAT’S NOT WHAT THEY’LL REMEMBER THIS OAKS DAY FOR MANY COMING OUT HERE, CONTINUING TO MAKE MEMORIES AND FOR OTHERS IT WAS ABOUT CELEBRATING SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THAT SEA OF OAKS, PINK AND BENEATH THE PINK HUED HISTORIC SPIRES, PONCHOS, RAIN BOOTS AND FIRST TIME FANS DETERMINED. WELL, ACTUALLY JUST HOPING REALLY TO PLACE A WIN WINNING BET. I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OF THIS, SO I’M JUST GOING TO LOOK AT THE NAME AND THE NUMBER AND GO FROM THERE. WHILE PATRICK MARTIN FROM BIRMINGHAM IS A FIRST TIMER, OTHERS LIKE KELLY RUSSELL, WHO IS FROM LOUISVILLE, HAVEN’T MISSED A DERBY WEEKEND SINCE THE 100TH RUNNING OF THE ROSES. IT WAS VERY EXCITING. I WAS IN THE INFIELD WITH 100,000 PEOPLE. SOME OF THEM HAD THEIR CLOTHES ON, SOME OF THEM DIDN’T, AND, UH, I’VE BEEN BACK EVERY YEAR SINCE AND THEY’RE UP FOR A LOT IN THIS CROWD. IT’S THE HORSE RACING THAT KEEPS THEM COMING BACK. THE CARS FROM NASHVILLE ENJOY PLACING BETS AND DRESSING UP. AND BY THE WAY, HE’S BEHIND HER OUTFITS. HE SEES IT. HE BRINGS IT. I PUT IT ON, AND IF IT FITS, I’LL WEAR IT. YEAH, MOST OF THE TIME IT WORKS. YES. DESPITE THE DAY’S SHOWERS, THOSE WE TALKED TO DIDN’T LET IT RAIN ON THEIR LITERAL PARADE. WHETHER IT WAS REUNIONS OR MILESTONES. MY 50TH BIRTHDAY. WOOHOO! THIS OAKS DAY WAS ONE TO CELEBRATE, BUT ONE YOU JUST HAD TO BE PREPARED FOR. AND THAT MEANT WEARING PINK AND A PONCHO. I ORDERED IT FROM AMAZON. IT GOT HERE TWO DAYS AGO AND I WAS READY.
