The Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy in the School of Pharmacy at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a (Remote) Pharmacist-Clinical Educator for Western Region at the Rational Drug Therapy Program.
About the Opportunity
As a Pharmacist-Clinical Educator for Western Region, you will serve as the primary liaison of Rational Drug Therapy Program's ADHD Academic Detailing Program and will be expected to proactively establish and manage prescriber relationships as an outward facing, dedicated resource. In addition to providing prescriber/group education, you will engage providers to strategically identify ways to uptake use of evidenced-based recommendations and will be expected to bring back recommendations from physician offices to support continuous quality improvement of the detailing program. You will then be expected to collaborate to continually improve ongoing utility of provider reports and education materials.

What you'll do:
- Assist with educational materials creation and review.
- Perform initial and follow-up academic detailing sessions with providers both in-office and virtually, if requested.
- Conduct pre and post intervention provider surveys.
- Schedule sessions with providers.
- Travel to providers' offices within assigned territories.
- Educating medical providers as to the role, purpose, and goals of the program.
- Regional outreach to promote the program.
- Acquire and maintain clinical knowledge and information on the disease states in which the program is involved.
- Assist with continuing education program virtually when assigned.
- Serve as a source of information about the program to individuals making inquiries. Distribute informational guidelines and provide information to substantiate decisions made by the program in order to establish credibility for the program and to educate the individual making the inquiry.
- Compose correspondence on a wide range of subjects relating to the program.
- Assist in the orientation, training, and education of subsequent academic detailers as needed. Answer questions in a courteous and educational manner.
- Attend meetings where applicable.
- Attend professional conferences where applicable.
- Perform other professional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by RDTP Drug Safety Program Coordinator.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.
- A minimum of one (1) year of retail or hospital pharmacy experience.
- Demonstrated ability to make valid clinical judgments concerning a patient's drug therapy needs, given the guidelines of the program.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and make constructive suggestions to appropriate peers and supervisors.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills and orientation.
- Exhibits excellent skills in handling difficult persons.
- Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate drug use in most common disease states.
- Exhibits a strong understanding of retail pharmacy operations and insurance billing processes associated with retail pharmacy operations.
- Demonstrated excellent computer data entry, software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and typing skills.
- Ability to follow guidelines and convey information in an accurate manner.
- Exhibits the flexibility and the ability to work with different insurance plans and different guidelines.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform duties in compliance with WVU HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional training in the field of psychiatry and education.
- Clinical pharmacy practice in pain management.
Certifications:
- Registered Pharmacist in WV or Eligible for Registration in WV.
